Description

The Lecture

Evelyn De Morgan was a Spiritual artist who believed that should could contact angels. She took great comfort in the idea of these heavenly guardians from a young age, writing poetry and stories featuring angels long before they became frequent visitors to her paintings. Of all of the angels De Morgan painted, the motif of the angel of death seems to haunt her visions. Join Director of the De Morgan Museum, Sarah Hardy, for an online talk on Evelyn De Morgan’s depictions of the angel of death. From a heartfelt poem to four unique painterly depictions, the angel of death was important to Evelyn De Morgan throughout her life and in this talk we will discuss some of the possible reasons for that.
