William De Morgan moved his pottery from Chelsea to Merton Abbey in 1882. Stationed near William Morris’s wallpaper and printing works in this South West London suburb, De Morgan was inspired by Morris’s repeat patterns and the natural world around him. Here he made some of his most ambitious ceramics, from large double-handled vases, to vast tile panels. Discover more about William De Morgan’s most intense period of making ceramics in this online illustrated talk.
