The Legend of King Arthur was of central importance to Pre-Raphaelite painters. In this talk, discover the love stories in the legends.

From Sir Galehaut’s crush on Sir Lancelot to the ultimate legendary power couple Arthur and Guinevere, this talk will share the many love stories across the Arthurian Legend. Taking inspiration from French literature to Tennyson’s ‘Idylls of the King’, we will explore how the legends transformed over the centuries.

Natalie Rigby, curator of ‘The Legend of King Arthur: A Pre-Raphaelite Love Story’ touring exhibition currently on display at Tullie, Carlisle, will illustrate the many characters and stories using images from the show.

Natalie Rigby is an inclusion-focussed freelance Curator with specialisms in Modern and Contemporary British Art. Her practice centres around making art, exhibitions and collections accessible to everyone and de-mystifying academia to open up the industry to all audiences.
