After six successful years as our De Morgan Museum Director, Sarah Hardy is leaving us at the end of the year for a senior role elsewhere.  Sad news for us but good news for Sarah, and a great opportunity to join our team and make your mark.

The new team will comprise a Museum Director and an Assistant Curator, both part-time, working together to tell our story, share our wonderful collection, and get involved in everything we do.

Museum Director

Looking for an exciting new challenge?  Are you ready for a dynamic leadership role that blends business expertise and income generation with partnerships and audience development, while still giving you the opportunity to flex your curatorial skills?

If so, this wide-ranging role in our newly reshaped team will be both rewarding and challenging, allowing you to grow your expertise and ambition as you work with a knowledgeable Trustee Board to take the De Morgan Foundation to its next chapter and ensure its continuing relevance and financial sustainability.  Our wonderful Museum Director is moving on to a new senior role at a larger organisation, and we’re excited about what a new voice will bring to our work.

We’re looking for a Museum Director who shares our enthusiasm for telling the De Morgan story, and to make our offer as rewarding as possible for our audiences, partners, and community.  A confident and compelling ambassador, you’ll represent the Foundation locally, nationally, and internationally, building partnerships, creating opportunities to capitalise on relationships with other cultural organisations.  You will be a creative thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset, resilient and flexible, with an appetite to bring your expertise to De Morgan to help us grow and achieve our ambitions.

Assistant Curator

Ready for your next career move?  Want to widen your expertise and take on new challenges and opportunities?

This is an opportunity to join our newly reshaped team at an exciting time, to bring your expertise to De Morgan to help us grow and achieve our ambitions.

You’ll be looking after our museum at Cannon Hall in Barnsley and the care and conservation of our wonderful collection, as well as visitor engagement, learning, and outreach activities, managing volunteers, and raising funds.  It’s a small team so offers plenty of opportunities to get involved in everything, supporting the new Museum Director in all aspects of the Foundation’s work, building on your existing expertise to develop your career.

We’re looking for someone who is confident, enthusiastic, flexible, and willing to get involved in all areas of our work.  Who can help us tell the story of our collection and the artists who created it.  You’ll have a few years’ experience under your belt in a museum or gallery setting, an understanding of and experience in the care of a museum collection, and have delivered public engagement, learning, and outreach activities, and ideally experience in grant applications and fundraising.
