Sambourne House

| £5Punch cartoonist and illustrator Edward Linley Sambourne moved into 18 Stafford Terrace with his wife Marion in 1874 and lived there up until his death in 1910. Today the remarkably well preserved interiors, tell the story of the lives and tastes of Linley, Marion and their two children, as well as providing a unique time capsule of a late 19th century middle-class aesthetic interior. This talk will explore the interiors of Sambourne House, the family that created them as well as the house’s journey to museum.
Hannah Lund is Curator of Exhibitions and Displays at Leighton House and Sambourne House. Hannah joined the museum in 2018 to work on a project to rationalise the museum’s reserve collection. More recently she worked on the displays and interpretation at both museum’s as part of the museum’s capital project. Following the museum’s reopening in 2022 she is now focused on delivering the exhibition programme. Prior to joining Leighton House, Hannah studied History of Art at Edinburgh University, completing a research masters in British material culture in 2017.
